As stated in the Saint Martin's University catalog, “course provides a framework for understanding human and organizational issues underlying creative and entrepreneurial success. Major topics covered include managing creativity, the entrepreneur, managing the evolving organization, and entrepreneurship and creativity in the established firm."

In this course I will introduce the student to key aspects of entrepreneurship. The course is a combination of theoretical and hands-on learning. Using the textbook, I will guide students to better understand the entrepreneurial experience using chapter content, business principles, and case studies. In addition, students will be required to complete a business plan. The text provides business plan software as well as instruction regarding business plan development. Finally, I will show students how to start a business in Washington State. We will focus on starting a for-profit Limited Liability Corporation. However, other corporate structures will be discussed including how to form a non-profit 501(c)3 entity. By the end of the course, students will have the plans, documentation, and additional knowledge (web-design, taxes, etc.) necessary to start a business.
