Extra Credit

As stated in the course syllabus, you may choose to present results of independent research to the class for extra credit. You may present your research findings by writing a paper, by making an oral presentation, or by doing both.  You may earn up to 5 course grade points by doing both the research paper and oral presentation.

Your extra credit research will complement and expand upon a "Along the Supply Chain" article featured in a selected chapter of your textbook. Your goal will be to explain to your classmates how, why, and to what affect the operations management principles or practices described in the selected chapter and illustrated in the "Along the Supply Chain" article are being used.

To prepare your report, you should study the entirety of the full text journal article cited in the "Along the Supply Chain" piece. Go to O'Grady library to access the journal article. Do not rely solely on the journal article. Expand your research beyond the article cited.

If you elect to do an oral presentation, it will be due the day your chapter appears on the course schedule. At the time of your presentation, you should submit to me copies of your presentation slides printed 6 to a page. Presentations will be graded for both content and delivery.

If you elect to do a research paper, you may submit a typed four to six page (do not exceed the 6 page maximum), fully cited and footnoted explication of your "Along the Supply Chain" article research with accompanying bibliography.  Prepare your paper using APA style. Check the course schedule for due date.

See me to gain approval of your "Along the Supply Chain" article before proceeding.
