This course introduces students to topics in quality control and total quality management. Covered topics include principles of total quality management (TQM), systems theory, and the application of statistical techniques in continuous improvement. Use of various methods and recent developments in quality control are covered in detail including TQM, CQI, and ISO 9000. Statistical methods used in controlling process variation receive emphasis. Quality in design and planning is stressed as equally important to quality in the constructed project and quality in production of goods and services.
