Saint Martin’s
University College of Education
“Making
Connections”
There are two things you hear
frequently amongst students. “I wish someone would have told me…” and “If I had
only known…” This is to be expected in any college or university. Everyone has
a different goal, and each of us has a different timeline. We would like to
facilitate the sharing of important information as well as develop a greater
sense of community within the College of Education.
The Connections program is
meant to be a means of linking those who have been in the education program for
a year or more with those who are just entering or considering selecting
Education as a major.
We realize that everyone has
busy schedules and cannot necessarily make it to every meeting or event. Many
of us are on campus at different times, or only short overlaps. This means
there is a need for creativity and flexibility when it comes to staying in
touch.
Your participation could be
as extensive as getting together with your Connections partner(s) once a week to
check in over a cup of coffee or lunch. It also could be as simple as sending
emails with questions, answers, words of encouragement, and tips on how to get
through the program.
We would like to invite you
to share your lessons learned and support to the incoming College of Education
students. Let us work together to eliminate the “If I had only known…” comments
and create a community of educators!
