Barbara Perry-Sheldon

Director of Teacher Education

North Carolina Wesleyan College

Barbara Perry-Sheldon is a professor of education and director of the teacher education program at North Carolina Western College. She holds degrees from Appalachian State University and the University of Georgia. She has taught elementary and middle grades students in North Carolina and Virginia. She has also taught at James Madison University in Virginia.

 

She is a co-author of Fastback 260 "Using Educational Research in the Classroom." She is active in several professional organizations and has made presentations at numerous state, National, and international conferences including AACTE, ATE, NCTE, and IRA. Her areas of special interest are cooperative learning, children's literature, and multicultural education.

The presentation, based on Fastback 260, describes action research and shares examples of action research projects being conducted by educators around the country. The benefits and challenges of doing action research are shared.
