OSPI School Improvement Web Tool Notes

·        Select a school.

·        Select a plan, create a plan or continue to work on a plan that is in progress.

·        List team members that are working on the plan and their role in the school.

Stage 1: Assess General Readiness to Benefit

  • This stage will help determine if staff is ready in order for school improvement planning to occur. It provides some first steps that would be helpful to promote and identify staff members.
  • All Student Improvement Planning Forms are linked and can be downloaded to use.

Stage 2: Collect, Sort and Select Data

  • This information includes achievement, demographic, contextual and perceptional data that is essential to know in order to have an effective school improvement plan.

Stage 3: Build and Analyze Portfolio

  • WASL trends: What percentage of students met the standards?

Stage 4: Set and Prioritize Goals

  • Write goals that are specific, student centered, measurable, attainable, related to achievement and time bound.
  • Prioritize goals.

Stage 5: Research and Select Effective Practices

  • Research and study process to find the most effective practices for the goals you have created.

Stage 6: Craft Action Plan

  • Use information to build a comprehensive school learning improvement plan.
  • Craft an action plan including goals.

Stage 7: Monitor Implementation of the Plan

  • Select goal and strategy.
  • Update progress.

Stage 8: Evaluate Impact on Student Achievement

·        Evaluate the plan and its impact on student achievement.

·        The information could also be used to revise or create a new plan.
