Instructional Input - The teacher will inform the class that they will be learning about Puerto Rico if they were not able to figure that out. The teacher will provide some facts on the island such as the location on a map, the bodies of water surrounding it, language, etc. The teacher will pass out a worksheet with the Puerto Rico facts listed on it. A map of the United States showing the island will be passed out. The teacher will introduce the concept of a web quest and describe each element of the quest. Each student will be required to choose a city on the island and prepare a brochure telling about the city. The teacher will explain what is required for the web quests.
Modeling - The teacher will reveal a map of the United States, locating Puerto Rico. He/she will find where we live in Washington. Then the teacher will find the state of Florida, and then locate Puerto Rico. He/she will indicate the bodies of water that surround the island, and pinpoint at least one city that is on the island. The teacher will show an example of a web quest to students that are on the internet.
