Responsible Use of Technology

Equality for All Students:

          I will strive to ensure gender equality with the use of technology in the classroom. Both boys and girls will have the same access to the computers and technology. I will encourage both genders to develop special talents they may have with technology. I will ensure that no student will be forced to work with technology more than their assigned work if they choose not to.

          With the use of technology in my classroom I will ensure that everyone has access to the technology that we use in the class for assignments. I will allow more than enough time to finish an assignment that will need the use of a computer for those students that may not have access to one at home. I will also talk with the students about other places where they can access technology equipment like a computer. I will try my best to meet the need of all my students, but if not I ask they came a talk with me, and I will be happy to work something out. I will also fight for educational technology devises that will help the students understand material. I feel that technology can help the students learn and understand material; therefore, I will fight for my students to have at least the same as everyone else.

          I will do whatever accommodations that I need to, so that disabled students will have the access as the other students. The use of technology can help disabled students in the learning process; therefore, I will make any arrangements necessary to make sure they have access to the use of technology.

Inappropriate Materials and Experiences- Protecting Students:

          I will take all the measures to protect the students from the inappropriate materials on the internet. I will ensure that all the students are using safe websites, by using filter and mortaring them myself. Also, I will be previewing websites that the students can access to ensure they are safe for children.

          In class on the first week of school I will go over and send a letter home to parents about safety. I want the parents and students to understand and know the dangers that are on the internet with chat rooms, email, harassment, and strangers. I will cover hoe to avoid these dangers by staying on the pre approved web site, but if any of this does happen to let me know right away, so I can take care of the problem.

Copyright Laws:

          I will obey the copyright laws by contacting the author and getting permission. I will not commit software piracy, photocopying infringements, or academic dishonesty. However, I will not let the students’ education be limited because of materials. I will use every means I need to for my students to have the materials for them to learn what I am teaching. Any copies that I make for the students or class can fall under the Brevity, Spontaneity, and Cumulative effect guidelines.
