Introduction

We are about to read a new chapter book, Charlotte's Web by E. L. White.  In this book most of the characters are farm animals.  The  two central characters are a pig and a spider.  Is a spider a farm animal?  The purpose of this webquest is to make you familiar farms, farm animals and farm life.  Once you have completed this webquest you will be ready to complete your group project.  Before you go any further it might be a good idea to review the Rubric for your final group project.

                     Visit  a Farm And Farm Life 

        Before we begin our literary adventure with Charlotte’s Web, we had better learn and see what farm life is all about.  Without giving away the story, I’ll tell you that most of the central story characters are farm animals, two of which are a pig and a spider.  The animals talk and help each other as they conduct the daily business being farm animals.  Joining the animals as a central figure is a little girl named ???/

         To learn more about farms and farm life double click on each of the links below.  The final step before starting on your collage is to fill in a Venn Diagram comparing and contrasting city and farm life.

                       Rubric 

                    After completing the web quest you and your group will be required to make a collage titled      Life On the Farm.  Use this rubric to help you complete your collage

  (10-15 Points)    The collage includes: many pictures of  farmers and their families showing life and work on the farm; many pictures of farm machines and what and how they are used; pictures of farm animals (especially pigs and some pictures of spiders).  The collage covers the entire piece of construction paper, is titled, and includes everyone's name.

  (6-9 Points)   The collage includes: a few pictures of  farmers and their families showing life or work on the farm; a few pictures of farm machines and what or how they are used; pictures of farm animals (including a pig or a spider).  The collage covers most of the piece of construction paper, is titled, and includes everyone's name.

(1-5 Points)    The group attempted to collect some pictures about farmers or their families that show life or work on the farm; a picture of a  farm machine; a picture a farm animal.  The collage is titled and includes everyone's name.

Conclusion

            After completing the research in the Farm Web Quest, you will be familiar with farms and farm life and will be able to share this knowledge with your team and classmates.  What you’ve learned will help you and your group to construct a perfect collage titled Farms and Farm Life.
